Summer Adventures Awaits at Hayner Library

An exciting journey into the world of books and creativity has begun at the Hayner Public Library District, as they launch their Summer Reading Program. This initiative offers a variety of engaging activities designed for children and teenagers to enjoy throughout the summer months. By participating in reading challenges, young enthusiasts have the opportunity to earn prizes while developing a lifelong love for literature. Librarians Mary and Sharon highlight that this program not only provides entertainment but also serves an educational purpose. It aims to combat the "summer slide," where students may experience a decline in literacy skills during the break, by keeping them actively engaged with reading and writing.
The Summer Reading Program spans from June 2 to July 10, 2025, under the theme "Level Up at Your Library." Weekly events include artistic crafts for toddlers on Mondays, storytelling combined with live art demonstrations on Tuesdays, and captivating performances every Wednesday. Science projects and treasure hunts are scheduled for Thursdays, offering older kids hands-on learning experiences. Teens are not left out, enjoying crafting sessions and game nights on alternate days. Families can participate freely without needing to register for individual programs, making it convenient for everyone to join as many activities as desired. The librarians emphasize the program's accessibility and encourage community involvement.
Through these vibrant offerings, the Hayner Public Library District fosters an environment where learning meets enjoyment. Both staff and participants look forward to creating cherished memories this summer. The initiative underscores the importance of community engagement and highlights how libraries serve as vital hubs for nurturing curiosity and intellectual growth among the younger generation. Such programs play a crucial role in shaping well-rounded individuals who appreciate the value of continuous learning and cultural enrichment. As the library opens its doors for another season of fun-filled literary adventures, it invites all families to partake in this enriching experience together.
