This summer, children at the Jimmy Hilton Pool in Sioux Park, Rapid City, will enjoy a new green dinosaur slide, replacing the beloved blue one that served pool-goers for nearly 30 years. The blue slide, which dated back to the pool's opening in 2000, was worn out due to weathering and extensive use. Approved by the Rapid City Council last fall, the new slide offers a smoother surface and prioritizes safety. According to Recreation Program Specialist Teaghan Slagle, the replacement was necessary due to the old slide's dull colors and scratches, which posed potential safety hazards. Sioux Park, Parkview, and Horace Mann outdoor pools are set to open on May 30, with Roosevelt Swim Center's outdoor pool opening on May 24.
