In the upcoming summer season, children in Clear Creek County are set to experience a series of thrilling outdoor adventures. From June 2 to August 1, the Colorado Creek Metropolitan Recreation District (CCMRD) is organizing an extensive program offering daily activities such as events, hikes, and rafting trips tailored for three different skill levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. These summer camps serve as a form of daycare aimed at fostering a love for nature among local residents.

A Season Packed with Outdoor Adventures

As the golden hues of late spring transition into summer, Clear Creek County's youth will have access to an exhilarating schedule of activities designed by the CCMRD. Under the interim leadership of childcare director Alaina Long, these programs aim to instill a deep appreciation for the natural world surrounding them. Each day begins at 7:30 a.m. and concludes at 5:30 p.m., providing ample time for exploration and learning.

For those seeking more challenging experiences, renowned guide Roray Archibald will lead some of the intermediate and all advanced hikes. Participants can expect unique activities like crafting wild teas, creating maps, and embarking on strenuous treks through rugged terrains. The excitement doesn't stop there—other planned activities include rock climbing, paddleboarding, and even a visit to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.

While participation comes with a fee of $70 per day regardless of attendance frequency, financial assistance may be available to qualifying families. Parents can explore detailed schedules and registration options online at ccmrd.funjoin.app, allowing flexible sign-ups based on interest.

From a journalistic perspective, this initiative beautifully underscores the importance of connecting young minds with nature. It not only provides a safe and engaging environment during the summer break but also fosters essential skills like teamwork, problem-solving, and environmental stewardship. Such programs remind us that nurturing a love for the outdoors early in life can inspire lifelong respect for our planet.
