'Red One' was a box office disappointment when it was released in theaters in early November, but it's now a big hit on streaming video
Although the movie disappointed in theaters taking in more than $175 million at the worldwide box office (against an estimated $250 million budget) back in early Nov., Red One is now the No. 1 streaming movie with a record-breaking more than 50 million worldwide viewers in just four days after its streaming release on Thursday, Dec. 12.

As of this writing, the physical media release of Red One has yet to be announced. However, it’s likely the Christmas action movie would be released on DVD, Blu-ray (with digital download) and 4K Ultra HD (with digital download) release sometime in late Jan. or early Feb. 2025.
Directed by Jake Kasdan, Red One follows Callum Drift (Dwayne Johnson), North Pole’s Head of Security, teaming up with Jack O’Malley (Chris Evans), a notorious hacker and bounty hunter, to find Santa Claus (J. K. Simmons) after St. Nick was kidnapped before the holiday season. Drift and O’Malley are on the job to save Christmas.
The movie also features Lucy Liu, Bonnie Hunt, Kristofer Hivju, Kiernan Shipka, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Wesley Kimmel, Nick Kroll and others.
