MING Unveils the 57.04 Iris Destro Monopusher Chronograph for its 8th Anniversary

Instructions

In a significant move for horology enthusiasts, independent watchmaker MING has released a remarkable new timepiece, the 57.04 Iris, commemorating its eighth year in the industry. This model not only introduces the brand's fifth-generation design aesthetic but also marks its first foray into a 'destro' (left-handed) chronograph configuration. The watch, encased in 40mm stainless steel, skillfully merges a compelling visual presence with practical wearability for daily use.

The MING 57.04 Iris stands out with its innovative design and intricate details. Underneath its domed sapphire crystal, a deeply concave brass dial features an 'Iris' coating. This unique finish allows the dial to exhibit a mesmerizing array of colors—from vibrant turquoise to rich purple and various shades of blue—as it catches and reflects light, creating a dynamic visual experience. The timepiece's case is a study in contrasts, presenting a blend of polished and satin-brushed surfaces along its bezel and caseband. Adding to its distinctiveness are the laser-cut indices, filled with MING's proprietary Polar White lume, which appear to float suspended beneath the sapphire crystal, enhancing readability and adding to the watch's ethereal charm. The stepped lugs, meticulously crafted from nine individual components, further exemplify the collection's architectural Art Deco influences. Engineered for versatility, the Iris boasts a water resistance of 100 meters, making it suitable for both professional environments and everyday adventures.

Driving this exquisite chronograph is a specially adapted Sellita Cal. SW562.M1 monopusher movement. This caliber has been re-engineered to accommodate the destro layout, allowing for a large, easily accessible crown and pusher on the left side of the case. A 30-minute counter positioned at 6 o'clock incorporates a sophisticated sandwich-style construction, artfully revealing the Super-LumiNova beneath. Furthermore, a 4N-coated three-quarter plate in anthracite provides a striking visual contrast, highlighting the mechanical beauty of the movement.

The MING 57.04 Iris is a highly exclusive offering, with production strictly limited to just 100 pieces worldwide. Each watch is priced at 6,250 CHF, which equates to approximately $7,768 USD, underscoring its premium positioning within the luxury watch market. This limited availability ensures its desirability among collectors and aficionados.

This release from MING, with its blend of innovative design, technical refinement, and limited availability, solidifies the brand's position as a distinctive voice in contemporary watchmaking. The 57.04 Iris exemplifies a commitment to unique aesthetics and precision engineering, offering a compelling addition for discerning collectors.
