Unleashing Boundless Imagination: The LEGO PLAY Pavilion Experience
A Dynamic Space for Creative Exploration: Introducing the LEGO PLAY Pavilion
Throughout the summer, The LEGO Group unveiled its interactive PLAY Pavilion at London's renowned Serpentine Gallery. This vividly designed space, envisioned by the distinguished architect Sir Peter Cook, hosted a comprehensive schedule of complimentary programs and engaging activities. These offerings were specifically designed to span multiple creative domains, aiming to stimulate the inventive spirit of younger generations and foster an environment where all could freely express their creativity and tap into the boundless potential of imagination.
Sporting Creativity: The LEGO x Nike Football Experience
To highlight the diverse opportunities available, Hypebeast enlisted three London-based content creators to immerse themselves in the various workshops at the PLAY Pavilion. David Zakwan, a prominent running enthusiast, initiated his experience by exploring the dynamic Nike x LEGO football-themed activation. Alongside his younger sister, they began their day by personalizing football jerseys with distinctive LEGO-inspired designs. Following their exploration of the pavilion, Zakwan, in his characteristic energetic style, raced the provided shuttle bus to the second phase of the Nike x LEGO PLAY Arena located on Warren Street. This unique collaborative football experience offered participants a chance to engage in various football drills, creative play with LEGO bricks, and an exclusive trial of the latest Nike Phantom football boots, blending athletic pursuit with imaginative construction.
Artistic Expression: Abstract Creations with Moe Osman
The pavilion offered a compelling abstract art workshop, encouraging attendees to translate their imaginative visions into tangible 2D and 3D creations using LEGO bricks. Under the guidance of seasoned LEGO Master Builders, participants could reinterpret iconic artworks or capture the essence of the picturesque Kensington Gardens. Lifestyle content creator Moe Osman, also known as @hellacreps, delved into this workshop, showcasing his artistic flair. He meticulously arranged bricks on baseplates, later contributing his signed work to adorn the pavilion's expansive panoramic wall. As a lasting memento of his creative journey, Osman also received an exclusive LEGO Make & Take set, adding a unique piece to his personal collection of interior design elements.
Harmonizing Creativity: The Record Shop Experience with Jaguar Bingham
Among the diverse workshops tailored for every creative inclination, music producer and radio host Jaguar Bingham found her artistic niche at the Record Shop activation. Here, she could intertwine her passion for electronic music with the tactile world of LEGO, embarking on the creation of an album cover. Drawing inspiration from her extensive musical repertoire, Jaguar chose to reinterpret her debut single, “WILD!”, in a distinctive LEGO form. On a square baseplate, she meticulously selected an array of multi-colored bricks, carefully stacking them to construct a faithful, albeit brick-based, rendition of her original album artwork. Upon completion, her unique creation was prominently displayed on the Pavilion’s sweeping panoramic wall, proudly showcased for all visitors to admire.
