Jil Sander SS26 Collection Unveiled in Milan: Simone Bellotti's Vision

Instructions

Simone Bellotti's inaugural collection for Jil Sander, showcased at Milan Fashion Week, ushers in a new era for the esteemed brand, moving towards a rejuvenated minimalist aesthetic.

Bellotti's Spring/Summer 2026 collection was unveiled in a sun-drenched space within the historic Piazza Castello, adjacent to Jil Sander's main office. This presentation signals a clear departure from the more elaborate and moodier styles seen in prior seasons under Luke and Lucie Meier. Bellotti's vision is rooted in emphasizing the core principles of Jil Sander: 'purity' and 'honesty'. He infuses the collection with vibrant electric blue, primary red, and ultraviolet hues, balanced by a foundation of classic neutrals such as charcoal gray, off-white, taupe, black, and white. The collection highlights the brand's signature architectural tailoring through geometric knee-length skirts, precisely fitted suits featuring unconventional spacious pockets, and structured coats with prominent sleeves and cinched waists. Additionally, Bellotti incorporates avant-garde touches, like a striking violet smock dress with a central pleat, alongside items such as a gleaming liquid chrome skirt, a floral PVC dress, and translucent jewel-toned pieces. These elements collectively reflect the brand's diverse stylistic journey through its various creative leaders, yet consistently maintain a sense of clarity, restraint, and harmonious balance.

Selected as Jil Sander's creative director earlier this year, following the Meiers' nearly decade-long tenure, Bellotti has expressed a deep commitment to honoring the brand's heritage. His approach pays homage to Jil Sander's origins in Hamburg, Germany, a theme subtly explored in the recent collaborative EP with Bochum Welt. This musical project, released a month prior to the fashion show, was accompanied by visuals set in Hamburg, connecting to the brand's early days. Coincidentally, Bochum Welt's initial release coincided with the opening of Jil Sander's first Milan showroom in 1994, which now serves as its creative and operational hub, underscoring the enduring legacy and forward-looking direction of the brand.

Bellotti's vision for Jil Sander represents a thoughtful evolution, blending minimalist roots with contemporary vitality. His commitment to authenticity and innovation promises an exciting future for the brand, ensuring its continued relevance in the ever-changing landscape of high fashion while staying true to its founding principles.
