During this time, the automated crimping machinery at Yazaki North America, a key supplier, was offline for maintenance. As a result, manual crimping procedures were implemented, which subsequently led to inconsistent terminal connections in the wire harnesses. This inconsistency can disrupt the signal transmission to the front passenger airbag, rendering it inoperative when needed most. While some vehicles with the defect were corrected before leaving the production line, a total of 245 SUVs and 109 pickups from the 2026 model year are still at risk.
