Ford Recalls 1.4 Million Vehicles Due to Rearview Camera Issue

Instructions

Ford Motor Company has announced a significant recall affecting over 1.4 million vehicles in the United States. This recall stems from a faulty rearview camera system, which has the potential to display a compromised, intermittent, or entirely blank image while the vehicle is in reverse, as reported by the U.S. auto regulatory body on Wednesday.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) confirmed that the recall encompasses 1,448,655 vehicles across a diverse array of models. These include various years of the Flex, Explorer, Lincoln MKT, Lincoln MKZ, C-Max, Escape, Taurus, Fusion, Fiesta, and the Mustang. To address this issue, Ford dealerships will conduct inspections and replace the rearview cameras without any charge to vehicle owners.

This latest recall adds to a series of challenges faced by Ford in 2025. In the preceding week, the manufacturer recalled more than 680,000 vehicles for various other concerns, including steering issues in its F-250, F-350, and F-450 pickup truck lines. This was further compounded by a separate recall in September for over 115,000 F-Series trucks due to potential steering column detachment. Additionally, a fire at a key supplier in September is anticipated to cause disruptions to Ford's production operations for several months. Despite these setbacks, Ford has demonstrated strong performance in its electric vehicle segment, achieving record third-quarter EV sales, a 19.8% increase, with the Mustang Mach-E seeing a notable 50.7% surge. The F-Series trucks also maintained their market dominance, exceeding 600,000 units sold year-to-date, solidifying their position as America's top-selling truck for the 49th consecutive year.

In the face of adversity, Ford's commitment to ensuring vehicle safety through extensive recalls highlights a responsible approach to consumer well-being. While operational challenges and past recalls present hurdles, the company's robust performance in the electric vehicle market and continued leadership in truck sales underscore its resilience and forward-looking strategy. This demonstrates that even established industry giants can adapt and thrive by prioritizing innovation and safety, setting a positive example for corporate responsibility and progress.
