A new collaboration between BEAMS Plus and Studio Nicholson has resulted in a unique 19-piece capsule collection. This partnership, deeply rooted in a mutual appreciation for classic 1960s and 1970s film aesthetics and a commitment to enduring style, brings forth a range of 'Made in Japan' garments. The collection is designed around the principle of creating authentic menswear that transcends fleeting trends, focusing on pieces that remain relevant and stylish through the ages. It harmoniously combines Studio Nicholson's signature minimalist, modular design philosophy with BEAMS Plus's heritage-rich emphasis on meticulous Japanese craftsmanship and high-quality textiles.
The collection reinterprets classic apparel with contemporary updates. For instance, the PETER trench coat is meticulously fashioned from water-repellent gabardine twill, featuring intricate hand-gluing by skilled artisans and a soft cotton poplin check lining. The PAUL sports blazer, available in sophisticated charcoal marl and navy hues, is constructed from a super-high-density tropical wool, offering a relaxed tailoring fit complemented by gold Americana-inspired buttons. Furthermore, the ALVY double-pleat trousers pay homage to the effortless sophistication seen in characters like Alvy Singer, rendered in supple toffee corduroy, breathable tropical wool, or crisp cotton twill in shades of tan, cream, charcoal marl, and navy.
Beyond the formal pieces, the capsule also elevates everyday essentials. The LISA shirt provides a fresh take on the traditional Oxford, with an oversized, laid-back cut offered in optic white, chalky pink, or a brown/white stripe. The HOLLY denim pant, skillfully woven on Okayama's shuttle looms using a blend of raw cotton, comes in either a faded wash or rich indigo. Completing the casual offerings is the GOLIGHTLY loopback jersey sweatshirt, distinguished by its dropped shoulders and subtle gusset detailing, available in a classic grey marl or navy.
This exclusive collection is set to debut in the United Kingdom on September 18, through Studio Nicholson's online platform and its flagship store in London. Following this, the collection will launch in Japan on September 19, available via BEAMS PLUS and Studio Nicholson's Tokyo locations. Pieces from the collection are priced between ¥19,800 and ¥143,000 JPY (approximately $135 to $973 USD) and are offered in men's sizes from XS to XL, inviting a diverse range of individuals to integrate these timeless and versatile garments into their wardrobes, promoting a lasting and highly wearable fashion statement.
