Adidas and German sneaker retailer BSTN have joined forces to create a distinctive footwear collection celebrating Oktoberfest. This collaboration introduces two unique colorways of the München sneaker, seamlessly blending traditional Bavarian elements with a touch of Italian flair. The collection highlights a growing playful cultural interaction observed at the world-renowned festival.
The inspiration for this collection stems from the increasing popularity of Oktoberfest among Italian tourists, a phenomenon affectionately nicknamed “Italian Weekend” by Munich locals. This cross-cultural dynamic provided the perfect canvas for Adidas and BSTN to innovate, merging festive Bavarian traditions with vibrant Italian influences.
Each sneaker in the collection proudly displays 'Salute' (Italian for "cheers") on its side, while a custom crest boldly features 'Brindiamo' ("let’s raise a glass"). These details are a heartfelt homage to the unifying spirit of community and celebration that defines Oktoberfest.
Despite the Italian touches, the sneakers maintain a strong connection to their Bavarian roots. The two available color palettes, "Dark Brown / Dark Green" and "Taupe / Sage Green," are designed to mimic the aesthetic of lederhosen, the traditional knee-length leather breeches. Furthermore, subtle embroidery on each heel incorporates design cues from Wiesn culture, adding depth and authenticity to the collection.
