Instructions

Acura, the luxury arm of Honda, marks its remarkable four-decade journey by unveiling a magnificent tribute to its heritage – a specially designed Integra race car. This creation by Honda Racing Corporation US not only celebrates 40 years since Acura's inception in the United States but also pays homage to its inaugural racing endeavors. The vehicle, a modern interpretation of the classic first-generation Integra, is meticulously engineered with enhanced performance components, all while retaining its original heart: a rebuilt 1.6-liter engine.

Acura's 40th Anniversary Celebrated with a Reimagined Integra Racer

On March 27, 1986, Acura embarked on its journey in the United States, introducing the iconic Legend and Integra models. Forty years later, to commemorate this significant milestone, the brand, through its performance division, Honda Racing Corporation US, has meticulously crafted the Acura Integra 40 Race car. This bespoke racing machine is a loving homage to the first-generation Integra, which originally sported a 1.6-liter four-cylinder D16A1 engine delivering 113 horsepower, paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The tribute car proudly retains this very engine, now expertly rebuilt, and the original transmission, marrying historical authenticity with contemporary racing prowess.

Beyond the heart of the car, the Integra 40 Race boasts a comprehensive suite of enhancements designed to elevate its track capabilities. These upgrades include a Monsoon ECU for optimized engine management, a coil-on-plug ignition system, a stainless long-tube header for improved exhaust flow, a custom Boral exhaust for a distinctive sound, and a Torsen-type limited-slip differential for superior traction. The suspension system has been modernized with new Tein coilovers and an adjustable Panhard bar, complemented by a manual steering rack for precise control. For stopping power, the car features Carbotech performance brake pads, stainless braided brake lines, and a manual brake conversion, all tucked behind Mugen 14-inch wheels fitted with high-performance Yokohama ADVAN-A050 semi-slick tires. Inside, safety and performance are paramount, with a custom Blackbird Fabworx roll cage, OMP racing seats, and six-point endurance harnesses. The exterior is finished in a striking Rio Red Metallic, making it a visual standout. This exceptional vehicle is set to make its much-anticipated debut at the 51st Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, scheduled to take place from April 17 to April 19, offering a thrilling spectacle for enthusiasts and a fitting tribute to Acura's enduring legacy.

The dedication to preserving the original engine while integrating advanced racing technology in the Acura Integra 40 Race car is a testament to the brand's enduring commitment to its roots and innovation. This project not only celebrates Acura's history but also serves as an inspiring example of how classic automotive designs can be reimagined for modern performance. It highlights the passion for engineering and the rich legacy that continues to drive the automotive world forward, offering a nostalgic yet exhilarating glimpse into the future of performance vehicles.
